Buy My Life in France

Written with her grandnephew, Julia Childs infectiously readable memoir uses years of letters to create a wonderful narrative both about her love affair with the food and culture of France, and as homage to the warm, loving relationship with her husband, Paul. Beginning with the awakening of her taste buds during a flavorful meal of oysters and deceptively simple Dover sole in butter en route to Paris, the story follows Julia Childs six-year stint in France, the process of writing MASTERING THE ART OF FRENCH COOKING, and her fame as a television chef. Lessons at the Cordon Bleu, meals all over France, and the Childs globe-trotting lifestyle are woven in with care, showcasing Julia Childs intense enjoyment of everything life had to offer. With Paul Child`s B&W photographs.

Collins Kids - At Town Hall Party: Vol. 2 (DVD)

Precocious pioneers of the rockabilly sound, the Collins Kids were a pair of siblings from Oklahoma who travelled to LA in the early 1950s to make it big. Little brother Larry played the double-necked guitar with a hyperkinetic energy, delivering riffs he`d learned from his mentor Joe Maphis. Older sister Lorrie was a sensuous teenage heartthrob, and the pair were responsible for some of the best early rockabilly, while Larry is often credited with inventing surf guitar. Their appearances on the weekly television show TOWN HALL PARTY display the excitement and energy of early rock & roll, and collected here are almost all of their appearances on the show in 1959. The kids cover LaVern Baker`s So High, So Low, Lloyd Price`s Stagger Lee, and a white-hot duet between Larry and Joe Maphis, titled Mutt and Jeff Boogie.
